The new high-speed train between Pune-Mumbai was part of a proposal drafted by the Maharashtra Railway Infrastructure Development Company (MAHARAIL). According to the proposal, the new train will reduce the time travel by one hour. The total time to reach the destination would be 1 hour and 39 minutes.
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Transport Minister Anil Parab, Satej Patil, Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar and others were present during the recent meeting which was held for the discussion of developmental projects.
The ambitious semi high-speed double line rail project between Pune- Nashik was the priority given the fact that the two cities are seeing agricultural and industrial development. The project will not only boost tourism but also help bring employment and the CM ordered the proposal to be submitted to the cabinet. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray asked officials to move the Pune-Nashik semi high-speed railway project proposal before the state Cabinet.
The project to cost Rs 16,039 crore, had received approval from the Railway Ministry last year. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Transport Minister Anil Parab and senior officials were present at the meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House.

· Aurangabad-Chalisgaon
· Rotegaon – Kopargaon
· Pune -Aurangabad
· Pune-Nanded
· Chiplun-Karad
· Vaibhavwadi –Kolhapur
Even though, the project of Pune-Mumbai is in planning stage, once the project is done, this project will bring a huge sigh of relief to daily commuters travelling for work purpose.
