Man killed by five persons in road rage on highway

Pune: In a shocking incident of road rage a man was murdered and his friend severely assaulted by five unknown men on Pune–Bangalore Highway near Vadgaon–Budruk. The incident, which occurred on October 6, was initially registered at Waduj in Satara and later got transferred to Sinhgad police station on Saturday. 

The deceased was identified as Abhay Singh alias Baba Uttam (36), a resident of Satara who along with his friend Sameer Attar (20), came to Pune on the day of the incident. 

According to Sinhgad police, Singh and Attar came to Pune on October 6 to meet a chef as they planned to start a Chinese restaurant in Satara. While on their way back they cut off a car which followed and confronted them. Five men came out of the car and started assaulting Singh and Attar. 

The police said that one of the assailants attacked the duo with an iron rod and also damaged their car. Later, the injured duo returned to Chandni Chowk. The friend of the deceased fainted on reaching Chandi Chowk. Seeing their condition, a person helped them to calling one of their friends in Satara who came to Pune to drive them back. 

Baban Khodede, Police Sub-Inspector, Sinhgad police station said, “Singh and Attar both received internal injuries. Singh was in semi-conscious state and was even talking to the person who came to drive them back home. However, when they were about to reach Satara Singh became unconscious; he was rushed to a local hospital but was declared dead on arrival.” 

“Initially the case of accidental death was registered at Waduj police station in Satara. During the post-mortem, the reason of death was revealed and the case got transferred to Sinhgad police station,” added Khodede. 

The police have booked a case of murder against the five suspects.
