Pune: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'Orange Alert' for ghat areas in Pune and Satara districts, including Wai and Mahabaleshwar hill station. Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon arrived in Pune and Mumbai cities on June 9, two days ahead of its normal date of June 11.
IMD has issued 'Red Alert' for Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra. Heavy rainfall will continue in these regions during this week. IMD has issued 'Orange Alert' for ghat areas in Pune, Satara, Ratnagiri, Raigad and Thane districts. These regions are receiving widespread heavy rainfall during the last few days and the monsoon activity is likely to continue through the week ahead. Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra may get extremely heavy rainfall of more than 200 mm in 24 hours, says the IMD warning.
Pune city received moderate rainfall on Sunday, especially late night. Shivajinagar station recorded 12.6mm rains on Sunday, while Hadapsar got 17.5mm, Wadgaon Sheri 12mm, Magarpatta 11.5mm, Pashan 6.9mm, Koregaon Park 4.5mm and Baramati 15.8mm. With cloudy weather for the entire day, Sunday recorded maximum temperature of 29.2 degree Celsius, which was 5 degree Celsius less. Pune city receives an average of 49.7mm rain between June 1 to 9, however this year it has received 209.2mm rain.
According to IMD, Pune district is very likely receive heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas on June 10, 11 and 12. Light to moderate rains are very likely on June 13 in these regions. From June 12 to 18, no significant rain is expected in Pune city, Pune ghats, or catchment areas, stated officials.

Orange Alert: Pune, Satara, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Thane, Raigad
Yellow Alert: Mumbai, Palghar, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Sangli, Solapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Dharashiv, Latur, and Vidarbha region.
