Pune: After a few incidents of building collapse in Pune Cantonment Board (PCB), the PCB has sent notices to more than 15 such dilapidated buildings.
However, PCB CEO Amit Kumar rued the fact that despite the notices being served, the residents have not moved out of the buildings. Among the incidents of wall collapse include Plaster of Paris roof collapsing at Amba Complex on MG Road, a one-floor house collapsed at Jan Mohammad Street, two-floor building collapsed on MG Road near Ram temple and a wall collapse at Solapur Bazaar near Sai Baba temple.
Kumar said, “We have sent notices to owners of more than 20 such residences recently, but they have not shifted nor they repaired it. In the notice, it was mentioned that they should submit their house plan to us so that we can take a look at it and give orders to repair it or demolish it.”
PCB Vice President Vivek Yadav said, “In 2008, the board passed a resolution to send notices to owners of dilapidated buildings. But the main problem in cantonment is that about 70 to 80 people staying here are tenants.”
