PUNE: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) on Monday generated Rs 1.90 crore in a single day as revenue. This is the highest revenue generated in a single day in the past five years. On Monday, around 1,650 buses were on the roads and there was a good response from passengers.
The average daily income of PMPML is between Rs 1.40 crore to Rs 1.60 crore. However, on Monday, the PMPML generated revenue of Rs 1.90 crore from passengers’ fares. This was the success of a joint effort of PMPML drivers, conductors and administration. Joint Managing Director Ajay Charthankar and traffic department head Anant Waghmare also applauded their efforts.
Five years ago, when Dr Shrikar Pardeshi was the Managing Director of PMPML, the transport utility had generated a revenue of Rs 2.05 crore in a single day.
At present, 200 midibuses and 125 e-buses are in the fleet of the PMPML. Also, 400 new CNG buses have also started arriving.
As new buses are inducted in the fleet, various initiatives have been taken to increase the efficiency of the staff of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad’s public carrier.
