Pune: The BJP yet again raised voice over the alleged suicide of a 22-year-old Pooja Chavan, by rooting for the arrest of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Rathod who is currently Maharashtra’s Forest Minister.

The Pune police's probe report to the National Commission for Women and to the state's Director General of police cannot be completed without the state’s Forest Minister Sanjay Rathod’s questioning. Pune Police has submitted an incomplete report to the State’s DGP, Chitra Wagh, BJP Vice President of the State Unit said on Thursday.

18 days after the incident, Wagh on Thursday visited the site in Pune where the girl died and also visited Wanawadi Police Station to meet the investigation officer. Wagh during a press conference slammed Mahavikas Aghadi for backing the Sanjay Rathod. The BJP leader also cast aspersions on the investigations conducted by the Pune Police. She lashed on Wanawadi Police Station’s Senior Police Inspector Deepak Lagad for his attitude and sincerity towards the case.

Wagh further said, "Forest Minister Sanjay Rathod is responsible for the suicide of Pooja Chavan. We are monitoring the case from Mumbai for the past 16 to 17 days. It is still not clear whether she jumped from the house or was forced to jump.”

“It seems senior police inspector of the Wanwadi police station, Deepak Lagad is trying to subdue the case as the police have not registered any case so far. Neither the police have found the two men who have absconded. The police inspector here has said that we have no written complaint from the girl's parents,” she added. BJP City President Jagdish Mulik, former MLA Medha Kulkarni, Yogesh Tilekar and other BJP leaders were present along with Wagh on Thursday.

The BJP has categorically held Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Rathod responsible for the girl’s suicide, alleging that it was none other than him whose voice had included in a series of audio clips linked to the case.

The deceased, who hailed from Beed district, belonged to the nomadic banjara community and had come to Pune for an English-speaking course. She is suspected to have died after jumping of a building on February 7.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Rathod on Tuesday came out in public in Washim district. He later while talking to media persons also dismissed the allegations against him. Talking to media persons after the visit to a temple, he said, “The ‘dirty politics’ was being played following the woman's unfortunate death. I have full confidence that the truth will come out following an investigation into the matter.
