Pune: Chikhali police have booked four persons on charges of causing loss of Rs 62.5 lakh to a company by not delivering a job in the stipulated time to a customer in Jharkhand. The company has lodged the complaint after waiting for seven months for the suspects to deliver the job as promised.

Appasaheb Bapurao Gaikwad (34), a resident of Shahu Nagar in Chinchwad has a complaint in this regard at Chikhali police station. Based on this complaint, police have booked Ajit Bhosale, Ajit Singh, Bholaram and Prakash Agarwal on charges of cheating the company. The suspects’ identity is yet to be ascertained by the police.

According to the complaint, Ravi Industries is a company located at Shelar Vasti near Chikhali. The company had a job of condensate tank which was to be delivered in Jharkhand to NTPC. The tank was worth Rs 62.5 lakh. The suspects had approached Gaikwad and assured him that they would deliver the job on time at NTPC in Jharkhand.

The four suspects were given the job on December 31, 2019. Since then the four suspects demanded increased fare charges for transporting the job to Jharkhand. They demanded Rs 21.75 lakh additional from Gaikwad to deliver the job in time at NTPC. The suspects also threatened to damage the tank if their demand was not met.

When the complainant did not respond to their arbitrary demands, the suspects refused to deliver the tank to the destination. Gaikwad waited through the lockdown period for the suspects to abide by their commitment but decided to file a complaint on August 8 at Chikhali police station when he realised that the suspects might have misused the container for their own monetary benefits.

Recently, another Talawade based company was also duped to the tune of Rs 1 lakh by two persons who had promised to bring labourers from their native place Yavatmal to depute on a site where the company had undertaken a project.
