Pune: It seems that tourists visiting Pune love the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML)’s Pune Darshan bus service. The bus ferries tourists to various spots for sight seeing of historic, religious and social places as the city is known as the cultural capital of the State. The bus ran to full capacity during the summer vacation. The income of this bus has now been doubled.

The PMPML started the service a few years back. The bus covers 20 sites in the city and surrounding area. There are only two air-conditioned buses to carry tourists and the fare is Rs 500 per passenger. The passengers book the tickets from Pune station stand or Deccan Gymkhana. They can book tickets online too. Though the service is available throughout the year, it mainly receives a good response during the holiday season. This year, the bus got a good response in terms of passengers and revenue.

The officials said the PMPML generated Rs 8.49 lakh from 1,699 passengers. The number of passengers in April was 1,093 and revenue earned was Rs 5.46 lakh. January and February saw a low number and revenue. However, in March during the examination season, 828 tourists travelled by Pune Darshan and the PMPML generated Rs 4.14 lakh.
