Pune: State Excise officials busted a dodgy booze factory set up in Hinjawadi area. One person has been arrested and 115 bottles of fake alcohol have been seized by the officials in the raid. The arrested suspect has been identified as Nagya Daya Chawada (37).
According to state excise officials, the fake alcohol factory was set up by the suspect at the Sakhare Vasti area in Pandav Nagar at Hinjawadi. The suspect had procured empty bottles of branded foreign liquor. The suspect used to fill in fake alcohol in these empty bottles and then sell it off as branded foreign liquor at an exorbitant price.
"We are tracing the other suspects. Branded scotch should not be purchased from illegal places. People should contact the state excise department if they get any information on the same," Santosh Zagade, SP, State Excise said.
State excise officials have seized 115 foreign liquor bottles, 300 empty bottles, 180 labels and 400 bottle covers all worth Rs 10.15 lakh.
The suspect has been booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. Police Sub Inspector SR Daverao is investigating the case further.
