Pune: Girl tricked to download app on mobile, duped of Rs 1 lakh

The caller asked her to scan the QR code through GPay and send him one rupee. The suspect chatted with the girl and gained her confidence. Later he told her that she needs to download an app named QR Code Support.

Pune: A 27-year-old girl was tricked to download an application on her mobile and later was duped of Rs 1 lakh by unknown suspects. The suspects had told the girl that her JIO sim card would be deactivated if she didn't download the app.

The girl has filed a complaint in this regard at the Warje police station. Based on this complaint, police have filed an FIR against unidentified suspects.

According to police, the complainant girl had received a call on her mobile in June month. The caller told her that her JIO sim card will be deactivated. The caller asked her to scan the QR code through GPay and send him one rupee. The suspect chatted with the girl and gained her confidence. Later he told her that she needs to download an app named QR Code Support.

After the app was downloaded by the girl on her mobile, the suspects withdrew Rs 99,969. The girl realised that she has been duped of Rs 1 lakh through this app. She immediately rushed to the police to file a complaint against the suspect.
