Pune: Loni Kalbhor police on Saturday (August 22) rescued three persons, including an Income Tax inspector, his wife and sister, who were stranded in a deep ravine in Ramdara area, about 30 kilometres away from Pune city. The police worked tirelessly for more than six hours to evacuate the three.

The three have been identified as Shashank Subhash Bisnoi (30), presently residing in Pune Cantonment area and originally from Rajasthan, his wife Alvina (25) and sister Tina (22). Shashank is working as an inspector in the Pune office of the Income Tax Department.

Shashank had gone for an outing in the Ramdara area on Saturday afternoon with his wife Alvina and sister Tina. At about 6.30 pm in the evening, they descended into a valley about seven hundred meters deep near the village of Alandi Mhatobachi. Thereafter they lost their way. As it was getting dark, the three of them got scared as the road was not clearly visible.

Keeping presence of mind, Shashank searched the phone number of Loni Kalbhor police station from Google search engine site and called them. He told the police that he had lost his way in the valley. After that, Mansingh Khoche, Inspector in charge of Loni Kalbhor police station and his colleague Police Sub Inspector Shivaji Nanavare rushed to the Ramdara hill area around 7 pm. He then called Shashank and asked him where exactly he was. However, Shashank could not explain to them their exact location. Khoche and Nanavare then started descending into the valley, noticing the signs they had mentioned.

After making their way through the pitch darkness, thick bushes and slippery roads, Khoche and Nanavare finally reached Shashank's location at around 12.30 pm after almost five hours. Shashank and his family were then safely evacuated from the valley at about 1.30 am on Sunday.
