Pune: The students of the Savitribai Phule Pune University's (SPPU) National Service Scheme (NSS) Department will be part of a campaign called 'My Family, My Responsibility' to curtail the further spread of COVID-19. The campaign is planned to continue till October 25.
The Maharashtra State has communicated to the Department of Higher and Technical Education instructing the NSS unit affiliated to SPPU as well as with the academic colleges in each campus to participate in the mission "My Family, My Responsibility" campaign.
“Through this campaign, awareness will be created through the triad of wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining physical distance. According to a letter from the Public Health Department, volunteers, faculty and students will have to participate in the survey as volunteers. Information on students and their families and at least 10 to 20 other families should be filled online on the university's NSS website. As well as students will give us surveys which will help in curbing such pandemic transmission.” said NSS Director Dr Prabhakar Desai of SPPU.
He added, "The family should be surveyed for safety. If not safe, information on how ill people are isolated should be collected. Awareness campaigns should be carried out through use of social media like e-mail, WhatsApp, to make the family aware. Such directions have been given to all the respective principals and directors in Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik districts where the SPPU jurisdiction exists."
