Pune: A 22-year-old girl hailing from Patna, was slapped, beaten and abused in Pune by a 22-year-old boy during a party.
The fight started after the girl objected to the obscene words and remarks made by the boy about Beur locality of Patna where the girl's family stays. This incident took place in Bhama Pearl Society in Bhujbal Vasti at Hinjawadi on the intervening night of January 6 and 7.
A complaint has been filed by the girl (name withheld), currently residing in Kothrud, at the Hinjawadi police station in this regard. Based on her complaint, police have booked one Harsh Kumar Singh (22), a resident of Bhama Pearl Society in Bhujbal Vasti at Wakad in Hinjawadi.
Harsh has been booked under sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code. The FIR has been registered on Thursday (January 7) evening 6 pm.
According to police, the complainant girl studies at a law college in Kothrud area while Harsh studies in the Aviation Institute at Karve Nagar. They know each other through a mutual friend and they all had gathered at their friend Bhaskar Pareshchandra Tai's residence at Bhama Pearl Society in Wakad on January 6 night.
While they were partying late night, Harsh pointed towards the complainant and started abusing citizens of Beur locality knowing that she comes from the same area. At that point, the complainant was standing in the balcony and went near him and objected to his remarks. Harsh slapped her so hard that she fell down.
Harsh then hit the complainant with a steel bangle on her head. She has received injuries to her head due to this assault. After the incident, the girl approached Hinjawadi police and filed the complaint. Police Constable Ganesh Rasal is investigating the case.
