Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad's Additional Commissioner of Police tests positive for COVID-19

Pune: The prevalence of COVID-19 in Pune's twin city of Pimpri-Chinchwad is increasing day by day. Along with the general public, COVID-19 infection is also on the rise among the police, who are referred to as COVID-19 warriors. A total of 464 people has been infected with COVID-19 at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, including officials. Two employees have succumbed coronavirus. Meanwhile, the Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokale, who is also home quarantine, has tested positive for COVID-19. Moreover, two deputy commissioners of police are already undergoing treatment at a private hospital as they are affected.

The total number of infected patients in Pimpri-Chinchwad city is on the threshold of 75,000 and more than 60,000 have become virus-free. Meanwhile, COVID-19 has infiltrated the police force and the number of police personnel and officers is increasing.

At present, 464 persons of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate are affected by COVID-19, out of which 49 officers and 368 employees have overcome the virus. Meanwhile, 45 employees and officers are undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Such information was given by Assistant Commissioner of Police R. R. Patil has given.

The patients undergoing treatment include two Deputy Commissioners of Police, an Inspector of Police and a Sub-Inspector of Police. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that the police personnel on duty will be further disrupted if proper care is not taken in the next few days. Everyone must take proper care by following the rules laid down by the administration.
