Pune: Investigations into the mysterious disappearance of businessman Gautam Vishwanand Pashankar (65) have thrown up surprising details. Inputs from the investigative agency suggests that Pashankar has been kidnapped by a politician whose name has been provided by Pashankar’s son Kapil to the concerned officials. However, the politician has been at the Mantralaya in Mumbai for the past three days and hence police have not yet summoned him for questioning nor have they taken any other action against him.

Gautam Pashankar is Managing Director of Pashankar Auto and Pashankar Group. He has been missing since last Wednesday (October 24) evening. Before his disappearance, Pashankar had handed over an envelope to his driver to be delivered to his family. A letter in the envelope said that he is completing suicide due to financial loss and stress. Since then Shivajinagar police and five dedicated teams have been searching for Pashankar but he is yet to be traced.

Police searched and scanned for CCTV footage all across the city and his last location was detected at an ATM centre on Ganeshkhind road from where he withdrew Rs 5000. The data from Pashankar’s phone has also been completely erased. A week after his disappearance, Pashankar’s son has revealed some names who could possibly be linked with the disappearance of Pashankar. Name of a ‘renowned’ politician from the city is also doing the rounds. While police are tight-lipped about this name, Kapil has officially lodged a complaint with the city police in which the politicians name has been mentioned.

Kapil told mediapersons, “I met Pune Police Commissioner to share crucial information which would help police in the ongoing investigations. We have already given some suspected persons names to the police and they are investigating the case from all aspects.”
