Pune: Parents of the 17-year-old girl who was murdered in Chakan allegedly by three men against whom she had filed a molestation case recently, have said that these suspects have a political backing and justice may not be done in this case. The family expressed their apprehension about the investigations in the case with Praveen Darekar, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council of Maharashtra.
Darekar consoled the grieving family on Sunday morning when he visited their home and also the spot where the girl was found murdered in Thoptewadi at Chakan. He was accompanied by former minister Bala Bhegade, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Mahesh Landge, Zilla Parishad member Sharad Butte Patil, BJP Women’s wing state president Uma Khapare and others.
Darekar later held a meeting with Ramnath Pokale, Additional Police Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad about investigations in this matter.
Darekar said, “Maharashtra state is known for its law and order and the murder of the teen girl is a heinous act which should be investigated fairly. The girl’s family should get justice and we have requested police to conduct speedy investigations in the case.”
Additional CP Pokale said, “Investigations are on in this case. We will leave no stone unturned in this investigation and ensure that those responsible for the act will be punished under law.”
Police have arrested three suspects in this case. They are Chandrakant Patilbuwa Kolekar, Akshay Kisan Kolekar, and Sunil Mahadev Kolekar, all residents of Thoptewadi village in Khed taluka of Pune district. The girl’s uncle (34) has filed a complaint against the three at Chakan police station. According to this complaint, the three suspects had eve-teased the girl a few days back. When her family came to know this incident they reprimanded the suspects. A verbal spat took place between the suspects and the girl’s uncle at that time. Later, the girl’s uncle had filed a complaint against the suspects about the molestation incident as well as the argument between them.
The suspects were miffed over this complaint and decided to take revenge. On Friday (July 24), the suspects called the girl near the canal at Askhed Khurd village. The girl was stripped of her clothes and later murdered by the suspects by hitting her on the head and face with a hard object. The girl suffered serious injuries in this attack and died on the spot. Her body was thrown in a thicket under a lemon tree near the canal.
