Pune: A 30-year-old widowed woman filed complaint against a 29-year-old man alleging that he violated her several times on the pretext of marriage after the two had met through Tinder dating app. The incident happened between June 12 to September 24, 2020 during the lockdown period in the city.

Police have identified the suspect as Aman Deepak Singh (29), a resident of Thergaon. He has been booked under sections 376(2)(n) (commit rape repeatedly on the same woman), 377 (Unnatural offences, non-consensual carnal intercourse against order of nature) and 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code. A complaint has been filed against him by the woman at the Wakad police station.

According to the complaint filed by the woman, the sexual assaults happened at JD Paradise in Tathawade, Stay-Inn hotel in Punawale, Comfort Executive Hotel in Marunji and Aditi Inn hotel at Hinjawadi during the lockdown period of June to September 2020.

Police Sub-Inspector Sangeeta Gode from Wakad police station said, "The complainant woman is currently unemployed and looking for a job. Her husband had died in an accident recently. She had met the suspect through the dating app Tinder. When the complainant asked the suspect to marry her, he allegedly refused to do so and hurled his shoe at her face."

Last month a similar case was reported from the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, where an air-hostess was raped by a man whom she met on Tinder dating app.
