Pune: In its endeavor to create awareness on cybersecurity, Quick Heal Technologies Limited, the leading provider of IT Security Solutions, in association with Pune City Police, on Friday, launched Cy-Fi Karandak 2017, a first-of-its-kind competitive festival of offline and online one-act-plays, aimed at creating a vibrant platform that portrays the impact of digital revolution on human life. The logo of Cy-Fi Karandak 2017 was also unveiled by Kailash Katkar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Quick Heal Technologies Limited, Milind Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EoW) & Cybercrime, Pune police, and Pradeep Vaidya, Director, Expression Lab.

The Cyber Cell of Pune city police will play a major role in helping participants by providing real-life cases pertaining to cyber-crime through constant interaction and guidance, to design quality content. Cy-Fi Karandak displays commitment towards making the virtual world a safe place for netizens.

Speaking on the occasion, Katkar said, “Since its launch in 2014, Quick Heal Foundation has provided training and guidance to over 8 lakh students across the country on cybersecurity. As a leader in cybersecurity solutions, we are always on the lookout for various avenues to educate netizens on the dark side of the digital world, which led to the formation of Cy-Fi Karandak. This unique one-act-play competition will not only help in educating people on the risks and threats associated with the digital world through contemporary art, but also provide a platform for theatre enthusiasts to showcase their talent.”

ACP Patil said, “The rise of digitisation has escalated risks related to cyber crime. Over 4,000 cyber crimes were reported in Pune in 2017, as compared to 2,079 cases in 2016. This proves that the threat landscape is continuously evolving and hence, it is crucial to conduct regular awareness programmes, which will help in educating netizens so that they stay a step ahead of cyber criminals. Keeping this in mind, we are pleased to partner with Quick Heal Foundation in its initiative to create cybersecurity awareness through contemporary art, in the form of Cy-Fi Karandak.”
