SP college and Nowrosjee Wadia college lead in the city with A+ grade in NAAC

SP college and Nowrosjee Wadia college lead in the city with A+ grade in NAAC

PUNE: Two colleges in the city, Sir Parashurambhau (SP) College for the third time and Nowrosjee Wadia College, after a long while, for the second time have received A+ grade by securing 3.70 CGPA and 3.51 CGPA, respectively from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) among the 13 colleges in the State, whose rankings were declared recently.

"It is a proud moment for us that the SP College has stood first in Pune and third in the State while nationally we rank fourth. The 3.70 CGPA is the highest score anybody has received in the city," said Principal of SP College, Dilip Sheth.

"This time, we emphasised more on improving the research quality and availed most of the research-related facilities for the students. Also, we cleared with fair accreditation in environment audits and other audits among the colleges," added Sheth.

While, BB Bahule, Vice-Principal of Nowrosjee Wadia College, said, “More than infrastructure, our main focus was on empowering our students in their academics. The excelling results of students in the college is what has added to our grades. We chose to stick to merit-based admissions. Moreover, we have roped in the alumni, who helped students regarding placements or academic queries in the absence of management or faculty. This has boosted our performance, which has well reflected in the CGPA given by the NAAC."

The NAAC has declared results of 185 colleges, of these two colleges have received 'A++' grade, 13 colleges have received 'A+' grade and 60 colleges have secured 'A' grade in the State.

Four colleges in the city have received 'A' Grade. The Dr DY Patil Institute of Management and Research in Pimpri got 'A' grade accreditation by scoring 3.29 CGPA. The Rayat Shikshan Sanstha's Mahatma Phule Mahavidyalaya in Pimpri and Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha's Cummins College of Engineering for Women in Karvenagar received 'A' grade by scoring 3.16 CGPA. Dr DY Patil Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Tathawade got 'A' grade with 3.05 CGPA.
