Pune: With the aim to promote tribal communities and create value for their art form, a group set up by youngsters coming from remote tribal communities of India ‘Universal Tribes’ will be starting tribal tourism.
The group was started by city-based Rajat Raghatwan along with 22 youngsters from remote tribal communities of India two years ago.
Till date, they have been promoting and exporting tribal artifacts. This tourism will be held under the guidance of The Tribal Research and Training Institute situated in Pune.
Raghatwan told Sakal times,”We have identified three tribal villages in Palghar District in Konkan Division of the State, including Vangoan, Dhanu and Jawahar. In these villages we will be arranging workshops including Warli art form, bamboo handicrafts and Gond paintings along with the creating awareness of the importance of tribal art and culture. Food will be given, treks will be arranged, monuments of heritage importance will also be shown, dance and games will be apart of the entertainment and a glimpse of tribal lifestyle will be shown.”
Raghatwan further said, “These tours will be of two days, Saturday and Sunday, and it will be for families and corporates. The tribals communities will be benefited by the tourism as the workshop, food and their tribal products will be up for sale. Also these tours will be continuously arranged, which will give tribals a direct market to sell their products to the people.”
“The environment will be also taken care of, as smoking and drinking will be strictly prohibited along with the plastic and thermocol. Also, the areas where the tours will be arranged are not core tribal areas, therefore hygienic and cleanliness factors are also taken care of,” Raghatwan added.
