Vaidya Khadiwale passes away

PUNE: Senior Ayurvedacharya Parshuram Yashwant Khadiwale alias Vaidya Khadiwale (86) passed away on Thursday morning at his residence following a brief illness. He is survived by wife, son and daughter.

Vaidya Khadiwale retired from the Indian Air Force in 1968 and ran the ayurvedic medicine pharmacy of his father. He bought a plot of 16,000 sq ft in Shaniwar Peth and started the Hari Parshuram medical store and another Ayurved medicine shop at another location. 

He was a staunch supporter of Ayurveda and practised it throughout his life. He used to conduct Ayurveda classes. His book ‘Ayurved Sarvansathi’ (Ayurved for all) was very popular. He wrote many articles on Ayurveda and established the Vaidya Khadiwale Research Institute to spread awareness about Ayurveda.

He used to collect clippings from various newspapers. He had framed many such photos appeared in newspapers and hung them on the walls of the drawing room of his house. His last rites were performed at the Vaikunth crematorium.
