India's sub-standard batting performance against Australia has invited criticism around all corners, as the batsmen's shortcomings against the seam were left exposed in the first Test at Adelaide. It was the poorest loss for the Indian cricket team in the history of Test cricket. Getting bundled at 36 runs in the second innings is the lowest total India has ever scored wearing white shirts.

Well, after that defeat in the first Test, the former captain of India, Rahul Dravid, is receiving a lot of backing to serve as the new coach of the senior team. In the practical world of COVID-19, it is barely possible for Dravid to fly from India to Australia.
Even Boria Majumdar, leading sports journalist on his Twitter handle said, "I have read suggestions to send Ishant and Rahul Dravid to Aus, Ishant to replace Shami and Rahul to help the batsmen. Neither are practical suggestions. This is not a normal world. Even if they go in 2 days they will be in hard quarantine till 6-7 Jan. So what's the point? 2/2".
Dravid may or may not take the role - we currently don't know. We do know that he is perfect for the part. The Wall has always stood rock solid to support the team, and Dravid will only be doing the Indian team a favour by agreeing to coach them.
The dependability of his technique and the legendary work ethic upon which he constructed his path of success is perhaps the very thing India needs. A player's success across formats and conditions is largely verbalised by the strength of their fundamentals. Isn't Mr Dependable the best person for this role?

One will certainly agree that Dravid was often India's best batsman in overseas conditions. The skills he showed on those tough, seaming and swinging wickets led to stability that is almost extinct these days.
WHAT DILIP VENSARKAR SAID
Former Chief Selector Dilip Vengsarkar, recently in a chat with The Times Of India, has suggested that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) must send Rahul Dravid to Australia to help the Indian batsmen Down Under. He said that the National Cricket Academy (NCA) is closed amid COVID-19 and hence the board must seek Dravid's expertise to turn things there.
"The BCCI must rush Dravid to Australia to help the team. No one can guide the batsmen better on how to play the moving ball in those conditions. His presence will be a huge boost to the Indian team in the nets. In any case, the NCA has been shut due to COVID-19 for the past nine months, leaving him with little to do," Vengsarkar was quoted saying to TOI.
