Mumbai: After the thrilling first encounter between MI and RCB on Friday, the focus shift to Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium.
The second match of the IPL 2021 will be played by two very competitive sides, with Chennai Super Kings taking on the young brigade's Delhi Capitals. The two teams will face each other at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
CSK boasts big batting lineup in their squad, with the likes of Robin Uthappa, Faf du Plesis, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and more. The bowling department of the Chennai side also looks promising. Shardal Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Lungi Ngidi, Imran Tahir are some promising names.
Talking about Delhi, their regular skipper Shreyas Iyer has been sidelined for the camp after receiving dislocating his shoulder. The in-form ishabh Pant, who possesses great talent as a power-hitter, will lead the side this year. Pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje are unlikely to play as they are yet to complete their 7-day compulsory quarantine period. Thus, Chris Woakes or Tom Curran will get the chance to prove their mettle in the absence of the star bowlers.
Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting was confident ahead of the opener against CSK at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday, saying, "We expect to play better as a group and achieve some better results. We need to approach it with the right attitude and play well. Hopefully, win that game and move onto the second game. But we know that we'll have to play well to win."PROBABLE XI
Delhi Capitals: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Marcus Stoinis, Sam Billings, Chris Woakes, Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav.
Chennai Super Kings: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir
After finishing last season as runners-up, Delhi would be hoping for their first IPL title and former Australia captain said he had full faith in his squad to go the distance. Dhoni's CSK encountered their worst-ever season as they ended at the seventh spot last year and failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in their history.
