PUNE: Nimish Kulkarni had his back to the wall before brilliantly steering clear in a five-frame encounter and move into next round of the inaugural Corner Pocket Cup Open Snooker Championship here on Wednesday.

In a Round-2 encounter, PYC Hindu Gymkhana’s Nimish downed Felix Francis  3-2. In a match of fluctuating fortunes Nimish found himself trailing 0-2 losing the first frame 14-34 and the next 15-27.

However, Felix rallied to take next two 34-26, 33-22, but Nimish finished off the game with a 31-6 win.

In a 4-frame battle, Corner Pocket’s Abhishek Bora put aside  Kailwalya Chavan of Satara 42-0, 40-32, 37-45, 29-17.
