Vani has eyes on European Ladies Tour Q-School 2020

Pune: In her quest to get her game back on course, Vani Kapoor, who skipped much of the second part of the season in 2019 and finished way down on the Hero Order of Merit at 17th, has set her eyes on clearing Ladies European Tour Q-School scheduled at La Manga Club in Alicante, Spain from January 15- 26.

“My entire season and plans depends on what I do in Alicante over the next two weeks. I am very much hopeful of making it through having worked hard over the last few months after taking a break from playing the domestic season,” Vani told Sakal Times in an interview after playing a sedate first round in the first leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Tour at the Poona Club Golf Course on Wednesday.

A troika of Vani Kapoor, Amandeep Drall and Astha Madan are set to try their clubs and luck on the Ladies European Tour, but any which way Vani would like to stick to the process and see what is in store for her this season.

Making a start of the season at par-71 Poona Club Golf course may not have been ideal before she leaves for Spain, but Vani is ready for the grind.

“Today was the day of grinding for me. I was not hitting my driver well. The shots were going a bit on left, but that is process of learning,” said Vani who shot a birdie-less round of four-over 75.
She was five strokes behind the joint leaders--amateur Pranavi Urs and Ridhima Dilawari, who both shot one-under-par cards of 70.

Vani played the front-nine two-over with bogeys on the first and fifth holes, while on the home stretch she again bogeyed par-4s 11th and 15th holes before parring the closing hole 18th.

“I will see what happens over the next two days, but will go with the process.”
